Community Spotlight in Guilford

In preparation for the new restaurant in Madison opening very soon, I thought it would be apropos to visit the established and very popular South Lane Bistro in Guilford for this community spotlight.  The owners of South Lane Bistro are spreading their wings, opening Sea House in the heart of downtown Madison,

generating much excitement from many of the regulars at South Lane Bistro who are anxiously awaiting the opening.  Rightfully so, after visiting, I realized how good this little restaurant is and why the place is packed each weekend.

South Lane Bistro Ambiance

Located in the heart of the green in Guilford, but tucked away on a small well-worn inlay path, it is the perfect location for a relaxing bistro.  The lighted sign and patio offer a fun and hip ambiance all the while creating an inviting space.  The rustic wood walls and nice bar space speakeasy and casual, but also offers charm and a homage to another time.  The outdoor fireplace was perfect for a chilly evening to enjoy a warm meal outside on the porch.  This is a great place to enjoy a meal with family or friends!

The Food

The food does not disappoint either.  Fresh, local ingredients are used in the entrees and drinks… even the tea is hand-blended in small batches right in Guilford by Wild Sage Apothecary.  The menu offers a wide selection

Shrimp at the South Lane Bistro

at great prices– choose from soups and salads, burgers, fresh fish, bigger plates, and amazing desserts. Our table chose to start off the night with the pulled pork nachos (yum!),  and a special appetizer with autumn corn relish and grilled shrimp.  So delicious!  My entree, a Vietnamese Shrimp salad was full of fresh mint and kale, topped with a skewer of large shrimp and a sriracha lime vinaigrette.  Just writing about it makes me want to go back!

Stay Tuned

This evening spent at South Lane Bistro was relaxing, fun, and filling.  The food and the ambiance were fantastic.  I highly recommend a visit to this rustic charmer!  And stay tuned for the review of the new restaurant in Madison…
