Mondo's offers great pizza and craft beers.

Mondo Restaurant

Do you ever just want to eat at a fun, relaxing place? Yes, me too.  Part of moving to a new area that is difficult for me is finding favorite good eating establishments that satisfy all the people in my family.  This spotlight is a great pizza restaurant that is kid friendly and still adult enough where you can enjoy a good wine or beer. A place that can someone can discuss business over a quick lunch, or discuss the scandal at the Oscars (wasn’t that crazy?) Surprisingly, these types of establishments are sort of hard to find.  So when we heard about Mondo from a friend, I was excited to try it out!

So I know Middletown is a bit off the shoreline, but Mondo in Middletown makes the trip entirely worth the extra few minutes in the car.  As we were coming home from a basketball game last Sunday, we made the stop in the middle of the afternoon– it was busy at 3:30, but not so much so that we had to wait.  The staff was fabulous and the service was great!

The menu is fantastic, something for really everyone! Mondos is a great family restaurant located in middletown, ct. Our order consisted of a few plates of the fried dough (complete with an abundance of cinnamon and sugar), arugula salad with candied walnuts, cranberries, and a lemon vinaigrette, a very large cheese pizza, and the best gluten free pizza that I have ever tried!  So yummy that I am sort of dreaming of my next visit!  The table next to us also had some mean looking sandwiches–stuffed thick with delicious looking meats, veggies, and gooey cheese. I also saw at the bar they had a few happy hour specials that would warrant a stop after work with a friend or colleague.  Am I making anyone besides myself hungry yet?

Spotlights will run throughout the month, so please chime in on any places or events that you would like to see featured.
