Do you love a fun eating place as much as I do? I am not a foodie by any means, but I would like to consider myself a connoisseur of easy, good food (really, any Mom could have this endorsement. :-)) The Guilford Marketplace is one of my favorites in every major category of making a restaurant good. It is an enjoyable atmosphere with some really great people watching, not too fancy, good for kids, and fun!
There are plenty of marketplace restaurants along the shoreline; however, The Guilford Marketplace stands out above the crowd. It could be the old subway tiles that adorn the walls full of open shelves lined with grocery items, or the gorgeous antique sundry that spreads over an entire wall where they serve the most amazing hot chocolate ever (It’s a meal, seriously), as well as delish pastries and coffee for the morning crowds . Or maybe it’s the crazy number of options of food, including gluten free, dairy free, and vegan, and everything from a la carte to make your own salads.
The location also gives this restaurant a huge win, located right on the Guilford green. This makes The Marketplace a great place to buy meats and cheeses in order to have an impromptu picnic in the green, a perfect picnic spot in the late spring (almost there guys!).
As I ate lunch yesterday with my girlfriends at this restaurant, I felt inspired to try something new. My normal is a make your own salad with goat cheese, cranberries, grilled chicken and a fantastic balsamic vinaigrette; however, ‘The East Guilford’ gluten free sandwich was on my menu yesterday and it was fantastic! Grilled bread, with turkey and melted gouda cheese, topped with a cranberry relish! OMGood!
